Unitarian Universalists are gathering in Phoenix, Arizona, this week for the annual General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association. This year’s GA has been designated a “Justice General Assembly” focused on immigration reform.
UUA President Peter Morales blogs about the anticipation he feels walking through the empty convention center before GA—and as the country awaits the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision about the constitutionality of Arizona’s SB 1070, which provoked the UUA’s focus on immigration justice. ”The struggle for justice, for the beloved community, is a long, long struggle,” Morales writes. ”It will not be won in the courtroom. It will be won in the human heart.”
